Roma V. – Muslim Roma People in Macedonia In Suto Orizari a settlement bordering Skopje In Macedonia there are living 40 000 Roma with majority Muslims. Gathering in one place this is the largest Roma Community of Europe. In 1981 the roma obtained ethnic status having the same constitutional equal rights as other minorities for example the Albanian, Hungarian or the Turks. There are some 20 tribes in Yugoslavia (Macedonia, Serbia-Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina). Each of them has had its own territory and subculture such as typical jobs, dialect, religion (Muslims or Christian). They are reported to keep ceremonies of Muslim Religion and to decline mixed marriage.
